Fewing Cup
The Fewing Cup is a traveling trophy awarded to the winner of the annual men's college soccer match between Seattle University and the University of Washington. Washington leads the all-time series, 49–9–6. The cup was first awarded in 2016. In the event of a draw, the cup remains in the possession of the school holding it prior to the match. The cup is presented to the winning team by the Washington Athletic Club and the 101 Club. In 2023, the cup was renamed the "Fewing Cup" after retiring Seattle U coach and UW soccer alumnus Pete Fewing. The rivalry has seen more media attention ever since Seattle U has reinstated its men's soccer program at the NCAA Division I level and has been competitive in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament. The most recent matchup between the teams was in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament. Seattle Redhawks Men's Soccer
The Seattle U Redhawks men's soccer program represents the Seattle University in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. Founded in 1967, the Redhawks compete in the Western Athletic Conference. The Redhawks are coached by Nate Daligcon, who served as an assistant coach for 10 seasons before being promoted to head coach in 2023. Seattle U plays their home matches at Championship Field, on the campus of Seattle University. Over the course of the program's history, the Redhawks have played at various levels of collegiate athletics. In 1997 they won the NAIA National Championship. In 2004 they won the NCAA Div II National Championship. In 2013, Seattle joined as a full-member of the Western Athletic Conference. In their first season as a DI member, the Redhawks qualified for the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament, with their best performance coming in 2015, where they reached the Round of 16. 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament
The 2024 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament was the 66th edition of the NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament, a postseason tournament that determined the national champion of the 2024 NCAA Division I men's soccer season. The College Cup was played on December 13 and December 16 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. The 2024 Vermont Catamounts men's soccer team, University of Vermont defeated Marshall Thundering Herd men's soccer, Marshall University 2–1 in overtime in the final to win the championship, the school's first national championship."Vermont claims first national championship on OT goal"
