Ferdinand Boberg
Gustaf Ferdinand Boberg (11 April 1860 – 7 May 1946) was a Swedish architect. Biography Boberg was born in Falun. He became one of the most productive and prominent architects of Stockholm around the turn of the 20th century. Among his most famous work is an electrical plant at Björns trädgård, Björns Trädgård in Stockholm, that was inspired by Middle Eastern architecture. The building was converted in the late nineties and is now the Stockholm Mosque. He also designed Nordiska Kompaniet, the most prominent department store in Stockholm and Rosenbad which today houses the Swedish government chancellery. Boberg's only international exhibition building that remains in existence today - the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair Swedish Pavilion - remains standing in Lindsborg, Kansas. Prince Eugene's Waldemarsudde () is a museum located on Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden. It was formerly the home of Prince Eugen (1865-1947), a Swedish prince, painter and art collector. The museum houses Prince Eugen's extensive art collection, which includes approximately 7,000 works, primarily Swedish paintings but also sculptures, drawings, graphics, and medals. After Prince Eugen's death in 1947, the estate was bequeathed to the Swedish state and opened to the public as a museum in 1948. The museum complex consists of a main building called the Mansion, completed in 1905, and a Gallery Building added in 1913, both designed by architect Ferdinand Boberg. The estate also includes an original manor house from the 1780s known as the Old House and a historic linseed oil mill. The Baltic Exhibition () was held in Malmö, Sweden from 15 May to 4 October 1914. (The official closing date, September 30, was later extended by four days, as permitted in the general rules.) A Swedish world's fair The event showcased the industry, art and culture of Sweden, Denmark, Germany and Russia — the four countries then bordering the Baltic Sea. The city itself has no beaches on the Baltic, but there is one nearby at Øresund. The Baltic Games were held at the same time, and to this day, they were one of the largest sporting events ever held in Malmö. After the Olympics in Stockholm in 1912, interest in sports had rapidly increased in Sweden, and this was one of the reasons why the Baltic Games became so large. The games were divided into three competition periods: gymnastics (June 7-10), "traditional" competitive sports (June 28-July 12), and sailing (August 6-9). Prince Eugen, Duke Of Närke
Prince Eugen of Sweden and Norway, Duke of Närke (Eugen Napoleon Nicolaus; 1 August 1865 – 17 August 1947) was a Swedish painter, art collector, and patron of artists. Background Prince Eugen was born at Drottningholm Palace as the fourth and youngest son of Oscar II of Sweden, Prince Oscar, Duke of Östergötland. His mother was Sophia of Nassau. The newborn prince was granted the title of Duke of Närke. Upon his father's accession to the thrones of Sweden and Norway as King Oscar II, the Duke of Närke became fourth in line to the throne. Showing early artistic promise, he studied in Paris, and went on to become one of Sweden's most prominent landscape painters. Throughout his life Prince Eugen was a supporter of fellow artists, and also involved in many cultural organisations and committees.
