or is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality located in Nordland Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Salten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the Fauske (town), town of Fauske. Fauske (town)
or is a town in Fauske Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is also the administrative centre of Fauske Municipality. The town is located on the shore of the Skjerstad Fjord, about east of the town of Bodø and about west of the border with Sweden. The lake Nervatnet lies on the southeast side of the town. The town has a population (2023) of 6,252 and a population density of . Fauske was established as a town in 1998 when the municipal council of Fauske Municipality designated it as such. It is the site of the local municipal government. Fauske Church and the Fauske Upper Secondary School are both located in the town as well. Fauske Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Fauske Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the town of Fauske. It is the church for the Fauske parish which is part of the Salten prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1869 using plans drawn up by the architect B. Sneve. The church seats about 280 people. History The people of the Fauske area first petitioned the King for a church in their village in 1841. At that time, Skjerstad Church was the main church for the area, but that was a distance away, across a large fjord. After about 20 years of discussions, requests, and committee meetings debating whether or not to have the church and if so, who would pay for it. Helene Gigstad Fauske (born 31 January 1997) is a Norwegian handball player for Odense Håndbold and the Norwegian national team. Career Stabæk Fauske started her career at her hometown club Stabæk IF, where she made her senior debut in the 2013-14 season. She represented Norway at the 2016 Women's Junior World Handball Championship, placing 5th, at the 2015 European Women's U-19 Handball Championship, placing 6th and at the 2013 Youth European Championship, placing 7th. Reidar Sognnaes (November 6, 1911 – September 21, 1984) was Dean of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, founding Dean of the UCLA School of Dentistry and scholar in the field of oral pathology. Biography Reidar Fauske Sognnaes was born in Bergen, Norway. Sognnæs grew up in Bergen and took his final exams at Tanks gymnas in 1931. He took the first part of dental education in Leipzig, and concluded with an examination at the Norwegian Dental School (''Norges Tannlegehøyskole'') in 1936. He participated in a Norwegian scientific expedition to Tristan da Cunha during 1937-38. Sognnaes came to America in 1938 as an intern at the Forsyth Dental Infirmary for Children in Boston. He continued on as a Carnegie Dental Fellow at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in New York, where he earned a master of science degree in physiology and a Ph.D. in pathology in 1941.
