Faisal Alawi
Faisal Alawi (1949 – February 7, 2010) was a Yemeni singer and oudist from Lahej, considered a pioneer of Lahiji music. He was famous for playing the oud, and his fame spread throughout the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf countries. Biography Faisal was born in 1949 in the village of Al-Shaq'a, Tuban, in the former Lahij sultanate. His father, Alawi Saad Al-Fatahi, was an artist, and his grandfather was a jurist and imam of a mosque. Faisal's first artistic work was in 1958, with his famous song "I Ask You with Love, O Beautiful Fatin" composed by Salih Nasser Kurd and lyrics by Ahmad Abbadi Hussein. He studied at Al-Mahsaniya School, where all the sultans and artists studied, including Prince Ahmad Fadl Al-Qamandan, artist Fadl Muhammad Al-Lahiji, and poet Abdullah Hadi Sabit. Abu Bakr Salem
Abu Bakr Salem Bilfaqih (; 17 March 1939 – 10 December 2017), also known by his '' kunya'' Abu Aseel (), was a Yemeni- Saudi singer, poet, and composer of Hadhrami origins. He was nicknamed "The Father of Khaliji Music" () and "the one with the golden larynx" (). Abu Bakr is known in the Arab world for his unique voice. Some of Abu Bakr's patriotic odes to Yemen celebrated historical events such as the abolition of the monarchy in the north in 1962, the independence of the south in 1967, and the unification of both the South and North Yemen in 1990, as well as songs in honour of his home region, Hadhramaut. In addition to the Yemeni nationality, Abu Bakr also held Saudi nationality after he moved to Saudi Arabia in the 1970s. Sultanate Of Lahej
Lahej ( '), the Sultanate of Lahej ( '), or, sometimes, the Abdali Sultanate ( '')'', was a Sheikdom based in Lahij in Southern Arabia. The Sultanate became self-ruling in 1728 and gained independence in 1740. In 1839, the Sultanate became part of the Aden Protectorate of the British Empire, though nominally the 'Abdali Sultan retained his status.
