Evosmos
Evosmos ( el, Εύοσμος, ''Évosmos''; before 1955: ''Neos Koukloutzas'' (Νέος Κουκλουτζάς, ''Néos Koukloutzás'')) is a suburb of the Thessaloniki Urban Area and was a former municipality in the regional unit of Thessaloniki, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Kordelio-Evosmos, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. It has a land area of and its population is 74,686 (2011 census). Due to rapid development, the population has been growing fast. Most of the new development is taking place in the northern district of the municipality called Nea Politeia (New Town). History Evosmos' first dramatic increase in population occurred when refugees from Asia Minor settled in the area in the early 20th century. The settlement was originally a small village called in Turkish Harmanköy (Χαρμάνκιοϊ). Kordelio–Evosmos ( el, Κορδελιό-Εύοσμος, ''Kordelió-Évosmos'') is a municipality of the Thessaloniki Urban Area in the regional unit of Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia, Greece. Thessaloniki (regional Unit)
Thessaloniki ( el, Μητροπολιτική Περιοχή Θεσσαλονίκης ''Mitropolitiki Periohi Thessaloníkis'', ''Metropolitan Area of Thessaloniki'') is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the Region of Central Macedonia and its capital is the city of Thessaloniki. Geography The regional unit stretches from the Thermaic Gulf in the southwest to the Strymonic Gulf in the east. Two bodies of water are located in the north, Lake Koroneia in the heart of the regional unit and Lake Volvi in the east. Agrotikos Asteras
Agrotikos Asteras Football Club ( el, Π.Μ.Α.Σ. Αγροτικός Αστήρ) is a Evosmos-based football club, currently playing in Gamma Ethniki. It was founded in 1932 by refugees from Asia Minor. History Agrotikos Asteras was founded from Greek refugees from Asia Minor, that formerly lived in Koukloutzas, Smyrni, . The idea of the club's establishment was conceived by a group of teenagers living in Neos Koukloutzas, Thessaloniki and it was assisted by a Greek army officer Dimitris Kodikakis. Its statute was handed to Greek court on 10 January 1930. The most important season for the team's history was 2005-2006, when the club won the trophy of Gamma Ethniki and achieved the semi finals of the Greek Cup. Aias Evosmou is a Greek multi-sport club based in Evosmos, Thessaloniki. It was founded in 1967 and it has departments in various sports, football, basketball and volleyball. The full name of the club is Athlitikos Politistikos Syllogos Aias Evosmou/APS Aias Evosmou ( el, Αθλητικός Πολιτιστικός Σύλλογος Αίας Ευόσμου/ΑΠΣ Αίας Ευόσμου meaning Athletic Culture Association Aias Evosmou). The Thessaloniki metropolitan area or larger urban zone (LUZ) is the complete area covered and directly influenced by Thessaloniki. The metropolitan area traditionally consisted of the municipality of Thessaloniki and its immediate surroundings, what is today referred to as the Thessaloniki urban area. Georgios Firos ( el, Γεώργιος Φοιρός; born 8 November 1953) is a Greek football manager and former football player. Career Born in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, Firos played center-back or sweeper. He was one of the very few players that was consistent in every game played. He played for the team of Aris Thessaloniki for many years and finished his career with Iraklis Thessaloniki. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. Nikolaos (Nikos) Chatzivrettas (alternate spelling: Hatzivrettas) (Greek: Νικόλαος (Νίκος) Χατζηβρέττας; born May 26, 1977) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. Chatzivrettas is 1.97 m (6 ft 5 in) tall. He played at the shooting guard and small forward positions. Professional career Before signing with Aris, Chatzivrettas played with Aias Evosmou, Iraklis, CSKA Moscow, and Panathinaikos. He won the EuroLeague championship with Panathinaikos in 2007 and 2009.
