Evansville Otters
The Evansville Otters are a professional baseball team based in Evansville, Indiana. They compete in the West Division of the independent Frontier League. Since their establishment in 1995, the Otters have played at historic Bosse Field, which originally opened in 1915. The Otters are the oldest current team in the Frontier League and have won two championships (2006 and 2016). History When the Otters began play in 1995, they returned baseball to Evansville for the first time in a decade. The city had been without a team since the Evansville Triplets relocated following the 1984 season. The Otters have been a success on the field and off since their first season of play in Evansville. Richmond Roosters
The Richmond Roosters were a professional baseball team based in Richmond, Indiana from 1995-2005. The Roosters played in the independent Frontier League, which at that time had no affiliation with Major League Baseball. The Roosters began play in the third season of the Frontier League when the Kentucky Rifles franchise folded and Richmond was granted an expansion team. The team played at Don McBride Stadium in Richmond. The franchise was sold after the 2005 season, moved to Traverse City, Michigan and became the Traverse City Beach Bums, who played at Wuerfel Park in the Traverse City suburb of Blair Township from 2006-2018. Brett Marshall
Brett Edward Marshall (born March 22, 1990) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Yankees. Career Marshall attended Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, where he played for the school's baseball team. In 2008, Marshall was named to the All-State first team. New York Yankees Marshall was drafted by the New York Yankees in the sixth round of the 2008 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed with the Yankees, receiving a $850,000 signing bonus. Marshall made his Major League debut on May 15, 2013 against the Seattle Mariners. Audris Joel Pérez (born December 23, 1988) is a Dominican professional baseball catcher who is currently a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the St. Louis Cardinals. The 2022 Frontier League season is the 29th season of professional baseball in the Frontier League since its creation in June 1993. There are 16 Frontier League teams, split evenly between two divisions, the East, and West divisions. Season schedule After the folding of the Southern Illinois Miners, the league brought back the Frontier Greys as the 16th member of the Frontier League, operating as a road travel team for the season. The 16 teams in the league are split evenly between two divisions, the East, and West divisions. The Schaumburg Boomers are a professional baseball team based in Schaumburg, Illinois that began play in the independent Frontier League in 2012. The team plays its home games at Wintrust Field. The Boomers replaced the now defunct Schaumburg Flyers of the Northern League after the franchise was evicted for not paying almost US$1 million in back rent. The "Boomers" nickname comes from a common nickname for males of the greater prairie chicken species, a bird which was once abundant in the Midwest but is now a vulnerable species. Joliet Slammers
The Joliet Slammers are a professional baseball team based in Joliet, Illinois, that play in the independent Frontier League. They play their home games at Duly Health and Care Field. They replaced the Joliet JackHammers of the Northern League after the franchise was crippled by numerous financial issues. The JackHammers franchise was put up for sale and Steel City Baseball, LLC, bought out all assets, including the front office, the ticketing system, and the lease of the ballpark. The company behind the popular card game Cards Against Humanity announced in December 2017 that they had purchased the naming rights to the stadium, calling it the "Cards Against Humanity Baseball Place", but the company's claim has been disputed by Slammers management. The Rockford Aviators were a professional baseball team based in Rockford, Illinois that played in the independent Frontier League. Rockford previously had a team in the Frontier League called the RiverHawks (2002-2009). There was no Rockford team in the Frontier League in 2010 as the team played in the independent Northern League. A separate RiverHawks franchise then returned to the Frontier League in 2011 and changed the team name to Aviators 2013. The RiverHawks began play at Marinelli Field.
