Mount Etna, or simply Etna ( it, Etna or ; scn, Muncibbeḍḍu or ; la, Aetna; grc, Αἴτνα and ), is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily, Italy, in the Metropolitan City of Catania, between the cities of Messina and Catania. It lies above the convergent plate margin between the African Plate and the Eurasian Plate. It is one of the tallest active volcanoes in Europe, and the tallest peak in Italy south of the Alps with a current height (July 2021) of , though this varies with summit eruptions. Over a six-month period in 2021, Etna erupted so much volcanic material that its height increased by approximately , and the southeastern crater is now the tallest part of the volcano. Etna, Licking County, Ohio
Etna (formerly Carthage) is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Licking County, Ohio, United States. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 1,209. It lies at an elevation of at the intersection of U.S. Route 40 and State Route 310. It was listed as a census-designated place in 2010. Geography Etna is in southwestern Licking County, in the center of Etna Township. U.S. Route 40 forms the northern edge of the community, and Interstate 70 forms the southern edge. Access from I-70 is via Exit 118 (State Route 310). Both US 40 and I-70 lead west to Columbus and east to Zanesville. Newark, the Licking county seat, is to the northeast. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Etna CDP has a total area of , of which , or 0.65%, are water. Etna-class Corvette
The ''Etna'' class was a class of six 16 or 18-gun corvettes with a flat hull, designed by Pierre-Alexandre-Laurent Forfait and his pupil Charles-Henri Tellier. Four separate commercial shipbuilders were involved in their construction by contract - including André-François Normand, Courtois and Denise at Honfleur, and Fouache at Le Havre (two ships), while the sixth vessel was built by Pierre Ozanne at Cherbourg Dockyard. The vessels were flush-decked and originally designed to carry a 12-inch mortar. However, as the British navy captured ''Etna'' within a year and a half of her launch at which time she was not carrying any mortar, it is possible that the design was modified quite early to delete the mortar. The Royal Navy captured three of the six vessels in the class. Three members of the class (including two in Royal Navy service), were lost to wrecking or grounding. Etna or Etne is a river in the Valdres region of Innlandet county, Norway. The long river flows through the municipalities of Øystre Slidre, Nord-Aurdal, Etnedal, and Nordre Land before joining the river Dokka at the village of Dokka in Nordre Land Municipality. Soon after the confluence of those two rivers, they join the Randsfjorden (a long, narrow inland lake). The river begins near the mountains Skaget and Langsua inside the Langsua National Park. Etna is a ghost town that was located near the site of present-day Bullard in northwestern Cherokee County, Texas, United States. History Etna was first settled by immigrants from the Old South around the time of the Civil War.
