Erik Blomberg (writer)
''Erik'' Axel Blomberg (17 August 1894 – 8 April 1965) was a Swedish poet, translator and critic. Biography Blomberg was born into a bourgeois family in Stockholm. After graduating from gymnasium in 1912, he went to study at Uppsala University, where he earned a Licentiate's degree in art history in 1919. Afterwards, he worked as an art critic for the newspapers Stockholms-Tidningen 1920–26, Stockholms Dagblad 1926–27 and as a literary critic for Social-Demokraten 1930–39. As a translator, Blomberg interpreted poetry from French, English, German and Chinese into Swedish. He was awarded the Swedish Academy's Translation Prize in 1960. Politically, Blomberg was influenced by marxism. According to him, one of the central tasks of the writer was to depict the realities of working people and the social and political contradictions in society. Skogskyrkogården (; ) is a cemetery located in the Gamla Enskede district south of central Stockholm, Sweden. Its design, by Gunnar Asplund and Sigurd Lewerentz, reflects the development of architecture from Nordic Classicism to mature functionalism. History Skogskyrkogården came about following an international competition in 1915 for the design of a new cemetery in Enskede in the southern part of Stockholm, Sweden. The entry called "Tallum" by the young architects Gunnar Asplund and Sigurd Lewerentz was selected. After changes made to the design on the recommendations of the competition jury, work began in 1917 on land that had been old gravel quarries that were overgrown with pine trees, and the first phase was completed three years later. ''Aftonbladet'' (, lit. "The evening paper") is a Swedish daily newspaper published in Stockholm, Sweden. It is one of the largest daily newspapers in the Nordic countries. History and profile The newspaper was founded by Lars Johan Hierta in December 1830 under the name of ''Aftonbladet i Stockholm'' during the modernization of Sweden. Often critical and oppositional, the paper was repeatedly banned from publishing. However, Hierta circumvented the bans by constantly reviving the paper under slightly modified names, as, legally speaking, a new publication. Thus, on 16 February 1835, he issued the first edition of New Aftonbladet, which would – after yet another ban – be followed by Newer Aftonbladet, in turn followed by Fourth Aftonbladet, Fifth Aftonbladet, and so on.
