Enrique Sánchez
Enrique José Sánchez León (born 16 July 1972) is a Mexican former professional boxer and the former World Boxing Association, WBA super bantamweight champion. Professional career In 1990, Sánchez won pro debut by stopping veteran Felipe Castillo in the fourth round. NABF Super Bantamweight Championship In March 1997 Enrique defeated United States, American Joe Manzano to win the North American Boxing Federation, NABF Super Bantamweight title in a twelve round fight. WBA Super Bantamweight Championship On February 8, 1998 Sánchez won the vacant World Boxing Association, WBA Super Bantamweight title by upsetting Puerto Rican, former World Boxing Organization world's champion Rafael del Valle (boxer), Rafael del Valle over twelve rounds. He would lose his title to fellow Mexican people, Mexican Néstor Garza. All three of his losses were to World Champions Marco Antonio Barrera, Robert Guerrero, and Néstor Garza. Super Bantamweight
Super bantamweight, also known as junior featherweight, is a weight class in professional boxing, contested from and up to . There were attempts by boxing promoters in the 1920s to establish this weight class, but few sanctioning organizations or state athletic commissions would recognize it. Jack Wolf won recognition as champion when he beat Joe Lynch at Madison Square Garden on September 21, 1922, but afterwards the weight division fell into disuse. The division was revived in the 1970s and the first title fight in 54 years in the division took place in 1976 when the World Boxing Council recognized Rigoberto Riasco as its champion when he defeated Waruinge Nakayama in eight rounds. The World Boxing Association crowned its first champion in 1977 when Soo Hwan Hong knocked out Hector Carasquilla in three rounds to win the inaugural WBA championship.
