Elstree Screen Arts Academy
Elstree Screen Arts Academy (formerly Elstree University Technical College) is a university technical college (UTC) located in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, England, which opened in September 2013. The UTC specialises in behind-the-scenes media production, digital communications and entertainment technologies with a curriculum that is designed to ensure strong foundations in fundamental academic subjects and build on these with vocational, expressive and industry relevant studies. The UTC's lead sponsor is the University of Hertfordshire; other sponsors include Elstree Studios. The UTC occupies newly developed buildings on Elstree Way. The conversion was designed by Ellis Williams Architects and was undertaken by Willmott Dixon Interiors. These university and industry partners support the curriculum development of the UTC, can provide professional development opportunities for teachers, and guide suitably qualified students on to industrial apprenticeships or tertiary education. The sponsor university appoints the majority of the UTC's governors and key members of staff. Pupils transfer to a UTC at the age of 14, part-way through their secondary education. Hertswood Academy
Hertswood Academy (formerly Hertswood School) is a coeducational secondary school in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire which gained academy status in January 2013. The headteacher is Peter Gillett, who joined Hertswood Academy in January 2013. It was established in September 2000 by an amalgamation of five former local schools, which was reflected by the two different sites of the academy previously . The academy has since moved to a single site as part of a project to build new "World Class Facilities". school that started work in 2015, which was funded by selling one of the sites for housing.
