Ellen Dubin
Ellen Dubin is a Canadian actress. She is best known for her part in the television mini-series ''Lexx'', playing the role of Giggerota. From 2004 to 2006, Dubin starred in the TV series ''The Collector'' as Jeri Slate. She was nominated for a Gemini Award for this role. She also played a guest appearance role in Gene Roddenberry's '' Earth: Final Conflict'' as well as a number of other series. In 2006 Dubin appeared in the TV movie '' The Wives He Forgot'' with Molly Ringwald and Mark Humphrey. In 2004 she appeared in ''Napoleon Dynamite''. Gatecon
Gatecon is a fan convention centered on the '' Stargate'' television franchise. The first Gatecon was held in 2000 in Vancouver, Canada, with the convention being held annually until 2008. Since 2008 the event has been held sporadically. The event has included tours of the ''Stargate SG-1'' (1997–2006), ''Stargate Atlantis'' (2004–2009) and ''Stargate Universe'' (2010–2011) sets at The Bridge Studios. A number of different charities have been supported by Gatecon, including Make A Wish Foundation, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and Cystic Fibrosis Canada, with MGM and the shows creators providing props and memorabilia to be auctioned off. The Dowaliby Case On September 10, 1988, 7 year-old Jaclyn Dowaliby was kidnapped from her home in the middle of the night. Two years later in 1990, Cynthia and Jaclyn's adoptive father David Dowaliby went on trial for the murder of their daughter. Cynthia was acquitted by the judge on grounds of insufficient evidence, but David was tried and convicted of his daughter's death and sentenced to a total of 45 years in prison.
