Egyptian Islamic Labour Party
The Egyptian Islamic Labour Party ( ar, حزب العمل الإسلامي, Ḥizb al-ʿamal al-islāmī al-Masri), previously the Socialist Labour Party ( ar-at, حزب العمل الإشتراكي, Ḥizb al-ʿamal al-ishtirākī), is an Egyptian Islamist political party. The party was suspended, but it later joined the Democratic Alliance for Egypt during the 2011-2012 parliamentary election, where it had gained 1 seat in the People's Assembly of Egypt. History and ideology The party established on 9 September 1978 by Ibrahim Shoukry and others. It was originally a socialist party. The party is the successor of the Masr Al Fattah Movement, which was founded by Ahmad Hussain in 1933. Since 1986 the party has undergone a major ideological change turning into an Islamist party. In 1987 the party formed an alliance, called Tahaluf, with the Muslim Brotherhood and the Socialist Liberals Party. Ibrahim Shoukry
Ibrahim Shoukry (22 September 1916 – 5 August 2008) was an Egyptian politician. Life Ibrahim Shoukry was born on September 22, 1916 in Cairo to a wealthy well-reputed Egyptian family, son of Mahmoud Shoukry. He graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at Cairo University in 1937. He fought against the British occupation of Egypt and was named the alive martyr Al Shaheed Al Hay as he was wounded among other friends who were killed in the student demonstrations against the British occupiers in 1935. He was first elected to parliament in 1945, as the youngest member. Later he was imprisoned for his articles against King Farouk of Egypt in 1952 whilst in parliament. In July 1952 members of the Egyptian army ousted Farouk, and Ibrahim Shoukry was freed to continue his journey in public service. 2013 Egyptian Coup D'état
The 2013 Egyptian coup d'etat took place on 3 July 2013. Egyptian army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi led a coalition to remove the democratically elected President of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi, from power and suspended the Egyptian constitution of 2012. The move came after the military's ultimatum for the government to "resolve its differences" with protesters during widespread national protests. The military arrested Morsi and Muslim Brotherhood leaders, and declared Chief Justice of the Supreme Constitutional Court Adly Mansour as the interim president of Egypt. The announcement was followed by demonstrations and clashes between supporters and opponents of the move throughout Egypt. There were mixed international reactions to the events.
