Edmundson Parkes
Edmundson Parkes (1904-1997) was President and CEO of United Gas Corporation, a major oil company from its inception in 1930 to its hostile takeover and subsequent forced merger with Pennzoil in 1968. A Grand Master is a title of honour as well as an office in Freemasonry, given to a freemason elected to oversee a Masonic jurisdiction, derived from the office of Grand Masters in chivalric orders. He presides over a Grand Lodge and has certain rights in the constituent Lodges that form his jurisdiction. In most, but not all cases, the Grand Master is styled "Most Worshipful Grand Master." He was hired as military adviser for Plymouth Colony in present-day Massachusetts, United States by the Pilgrims. Gulf South Pipeline is a natural gas pipeline system that transports gas between south and east Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. The system is owned by a limited partnership. The system connects to Henry Hub in Louisiana. Its FERC code is 11. The pipeline was formerly owned by the United Gas Pipe Line Company, a subsidiary of United Gas Corporation. The Rough Riders was a nickname given to the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry, one of three such regiments raised in 1898 for the Spanish–American War and the only one to see combat. The United States Army was small, understaffed, and disorganized in comparison to its status during the American Civil War roughly thirty years prior. Following the sinking of , President William McKinley needed to muster a strong ground force swiftly, which he did by calling for 125,000 volunteers to assist in the war. The U.S. had gone to war in opposition to Spanish colonial policies in Cuba, which was then torn by a rebellion.
