Edith Roger
Edith Roger (born 29 May 1922) is a Norwegian dancer, choreographer and stage director. She was born in Vestby. She made her debut as dancer at Rogaland Teater in 1945. Her debut as stage director was ''Sangen om utysket'' at Nationaltheatret in 1967. She was decorated Knight of the Order of St. Olav in 1985, and was awarded the Arts Council Norway Honorary Award in 2002. In 2010 she received the Hedda Honorary Award. Rolf Daleng
Rolf Daleng (15 March 1930 – 18 March 1986) was a Norwegian dancer, choreographer and film actor. He was among the first dancers appointed at Den Norske Opera, which was established in 1958, and danced the role of "Frantz" in the opening balley ''Coppélia''. He danced in musicals at Det Norske Teatret and other stages, and participated in the 1962 drama film ''Tonny ''Tonny'' is a 1962 Norwegian drama film directed by Nils R. Müller and Per Gjersøe. Jon Fosse
Jon Olav Fosse (born 29 September 1959) is a Norwegian author and dramatist. Biography Jon Fosse was born in Haugesund, Norway. A serious accident at age seven brought him close to death; the experience significantly influenced his adulthood writing. He enrolled in the University of Bergen and studied comparative literature. His debut novel, ''Raudt, svart'' (''Red, Black''), was published in 1983, written in Nynorsk, which at that time was the common written language only in western Norway (it has since become one of the two official written languages of the country). His first play, ''Og aldri skal vi skiljast'' (''And We'll Never Be Parted''), was performed and published in 1994. Fosse has written novels, short stories, poetry, children's books, essays and plays. His works have been translated into more than forty languages. Kjartan Slettemark
Kjartan Slettemark (6 August 1932, Naustdal, Norway – 13 December 2008, Stockholm, Sweden) was a Norwegian- Swedish artist. Career He first made a name for himself as an artist with a collage he placed in front of the Parliament of Norway in 1965, titled "From a report from Vietnam: Children are splashed with napalm. Their skin is burnt into black wounds and they die." This work consists of, among other things, a red mouth, an American flag and the figure of a child. It was donated to the National Gallery in Oslo in 1982. He also produced passports (which resembled a Norwegian passport) for the fictional country Kjartanistan. Around 500 were made for persons interested in citizenship. In the mid-1960s Slettemark was a teacher at an art school in Stockholm, and he took Swedish citizenship in 1966. Vestby
Vestby is a municipality in former Akershus now Viken county, Norway. It is part of the Follo traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Vestby. General information Name The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old ''Vestby'' farm (Old Norse: ''Vestbýr''), since the first church was built here. The first element is ''vestr'' which means "west" and the last element is ''býr'' meaning "farm". The neighbouring farms have the names ''Østby'' ("eastern farm"), ''Sunnby'' ("southern farm"), and ''Nordby'' ("northern farm"); and they must all four be the parts of a bigger and older farm, whose name is now unknown. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. His paper ''Omkring Bǫglungasǫgur'', on the Bagler sagas, was printed in 1959. In December 1957 he married Karen Blauuw, who would later become a professor.
