Eddie Smith (born April 11, 1979) is an American Republican politician who represented District 13 in the Tennessee House of Representatives from January 2014 until his defeat in the November 2018 elections, where he lost to Democrat Gloria Johnson by a 10-point margin. Education Smith earned his bachelor of science from Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee. Legislation Smith introduced legislation during the 109th General Assembly to increase penalties for school bus drivers who are caught texting and driving. Gloria Johnson (politician)
Gloria Johnson (born May 25, 1962) is an American politician and Democratic member of the Tennessee House of Representatives currently representing District 90, and formerly District 13, based in Knoxville. In April 2023, she and two other state representatives faced expulsion votes from the Tennessee General Assembly after taking to the floor of the State House unrecognized to protest gun violence. Johnson was the only one of the three legislators not to be expelled. Johnson is currently seeking the Democratic Party nomination for the 2024 United States Senate election in Tennessee currently held by incumbent Republican Marsha Blackburn. Greeneville is a town in and the county seat of Greene County, Tennessee, United States. The population as of the 2020 census was 15,479. The town was named in honor of Revolutionary War hero Nathanael Greene, and it is the second oldest town in Tennessee.
