Eddie Selzer
Edward Selzer (January 12, 1893 – February 22, 1970) was an American film producer and publicist who served as head of Warner Bros. Cartoons from 1944 to 1958. He served in the US Navy and fought as a Golden Gloves boxer. He won a boxing exhibition for the Navy and was awarded with a weekend pass. While out on leave he met a New York chorus girl named Laura Cohn; he later married Laura in 1927 and relocated to Los Angeles where they had two children; Phyllis and Robert. Career at Warner Bros. In 1930, Lewis Warner persuaded Selzer to join Warner Bros. to work on Robert Ripley's " Believe it or Not" series and to start an animation unit. Depicted as a French striped skunk, Pepé is constantly on the quest for love. However, his offensive skunk odor and his aggressive pursuit of romance typically cause other characters to run away from him. ''Sahara Hare'' is a 1955 Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' theatrical cartoon short directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on March 26, 1955, and stars Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. Plot This is another classic battle between Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam (referred to here as “Riff Raff Sam”). Bugs pops up after tunneling underground, thinking he has reached Miami Beach, when in reality he is in the Sahara Desert, presumably because of “not making that left turn at Albuquerque”. ''Devil May Hare'' is a 1954 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Robert McKimson. The short was released on June 19, 1954, and stars Bugs Bunny and the Tasmanian Devil making his debut. Plot Bugs is spring cleaning until he is interrupted by a huge variety of animals stampeding in fear. He fails to stop one of them to ask what is going on until he places a shovel in the way of a turtle, who explains that "the Tasmanian Devil's on the loose!". Not knowing what a Tasmanian Devil is, Bugs walks down the stairs into his hole and looks in an encyclopedia. It describes the Tasmanian Devil, or Taz, as a "strong, moiderous beast", with "jaws as powerful as a steel trap" and a "ravenous appetite", who eats a long list of animals.
