Eastlea
Eastlea Community School is a co-educational secondary school in the London Borough of Newham in Canning Town, London E16. The school caters for 11- to 16-year-olds. The school runs a scholarship initiative in partnership with charity Eastside Young Leader Academy. Eastlea Community School underwent an extensive £13m Building Schools For the Future redevelopment creating a campus-style learning environment. Eastlea was rated as "Inadequate" following an Ofsted inspection, published 20 November 2019. Previously a community school administered by Newham London Borough Council, in January 2021 Eastlea Community School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the Newham Community Schools Trust. Larry Cummings Kiala, better known by his stage name Yxng Bane (pronounced "young bane"), is a British rapper, singer and songwriter from East London. Early and personal life Kiala grew up in Custom House, an industrial district of East London's Canning Town neighbourhood. His mother is Congolese and his father is Angolan. Academy (English School)
An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. The terms of the arrangements are set out in individual Academy Funding Agreements. Medy Ekofo Elito (born 20 March 1990) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Welling United. Born in Zaire, he represented England internationally at youth levels U17 through U19. Building Schools for the Future (BSF) was the name given to the British government's investment programme in secondary school buildings in England in the 2000s. The programme was ambitious in its costs, timescales and objectives, with politicians from all English political parties supportive of the principle but questioning the wisdom and cost effectiveness of the scheme. Canning Town is a district in the London Borough of Newham, East London. The district is located to the north of the Royal Victoria Dock, and has been described as the "Child of the Victoria Docks" as the timing and nature of its urbanisation was largely due to the creation of the dock.
