Earl Sinks
Henry Earl Sinks (January 1, 1940 – May 13, 2017), known professionally as Earl Sinks, was an American singer-songwriter and actor, known by many pseudonyms. He led a prolific musical and acting career from the 1950s to the 1990s before retiring. He was best known for his long music career, including his brief tenure as lead singer of the Crickets from 1958 to 1960, and for his acting roles in numerous low budget movies and TV shows in the 60s. Music career Sinks was performing with Bob Wills at age 12 before doing his first recordings in 1958 at Norman Petty Studios as a solo artist. Under the alias of "Earl Henry" he had 2 singles "I Am The Man/Whatcha Gonna Do?" and "My Suzanne/Believe A Traveler" on Dot Records. After Buddy Holly split with The Crickets near the end of 1958, Sinks was brought in by Norman Petty to record. Whitharral, Texas
Whitharral (pronounced "WHIT-hair-ul", the T and H do not blend) is an unincorporated community in Hockley County, Texas, United States. History Whitharral was founded in 1924 after the sale of the Littlefield ranchlands. The town was named for John Whitfield Harral, a trustee of the Yellow House Land Company, which sold the Littlefield ranchlands to farmers. A school was founded in 1925, and a post office the following year. Cotton gins, three churches, a garage, and a general store followed soon after. Tornadoes have hit the town twice. The first occurred on Easter Sunday of 1957, causing some residential damage. Late in the evening on April 17, 1970, a violent tornado caused heavy damage to parts of the city and flattened the school's gym just minutes after fans and players had left the facility. ''In Style With the Crickets'' is a rock and roll album by the Crickets. Although it was the band's first release following the departure and subsequent death of their front man, Buddy Holly, it still contains many of the band's most memorable songs and many tracks have also been featured on numerous compilations over the years. Originally released as an LP record on December 4, 1960, the album remained out of print for some time until it was re-released on CD in 1993, with bonus tracks not featured on the original album. ''Surfside 6'' is an American Broadcasting Company, ABC television series which aired from 1960 to 1962. The show centered on a Miami Beach, Florida, Miami Beach detective agency set on a houseboat and featured Troy Donahue as Sandy Winfield II; Van Williams as Kenny Madison (a character recycled from ''Bourbon Street Beat''); and Lee Patterson as Dave Thorne. ''Sugarfoot'' is an American Western television series that aired for 69 episodes on ABC from 1957-1961 on Tuesday nights on a "shared" slot basis – rotating with ''Cheyenne'' (first season); ''Cheyenne'' and ''Bronco'' (second season); and ''Bronco'' (third season). The Warner Bros. production stars Will Hutchins as Tom Brewster, an Easterner who comes to the Oklahoma Territory to become a lawyer. Ron Ormond (born Vittorio Di Naro, August 29, 1910 – May 11, 1981) was an American author, showman, screenwriter, film producer, and film director of Western, musical, and exploitation films. Following his survival of a 1968 plane crash, Ormond began making Christian films. Early life Ron Ormond was born Vittorio Di Naro, anglicised to Vic Narro. He took his surname from his friend, magician and hypnotist Ormond McGill. David Box
David Box (August 11, 1943 – October 23, 1964) was an American rock musician in the early 1960s. Box was influenced by fellow Texan Buddy Holly, and even took his place as singer of his group, The Crickets, for a short time after Holly's death. Box also collaborated with Roy Orbison, and found local success with his own group, the Ravens. Surviving recordings show that David Box was equally comfortable doing cover versions of established songs ("That's All I Want from You," " Apache", etc.) and his own compositions. His vocal range was also flexible; in the upbeat songs he sounds somewhat like Buddy Holly, and in the ballads he is obviously influenced by Roy Orbison. Box recorded mostly for independent record labels, but his record of "Little Lonely Summer Girl" became a regional hit in the summer of 1964, and he was on the verge of signing a contract with RCA Victor in the fall.
