Ahmed Ezz (businessman)
Ahmed Ezz ( ar, أحمد عز; born 12 January 1959) is an Egyptian businessman and one-time politician, the owner of Ezz Steel and the former chairman of Egypt's national assembly's budget committee. He was also the organizational secretary of the National Democratic Party of Egypt (NDP) . Life and career Ahmed Ezz was born to a Muslim Egyptian father, Lieutenant Abdel Aziz Ezz, and a Muslim Egyptian mother, Afaf Halawa, in 1959; into a family that had “traded building materials for generations,” according to The Washington Post. He was elected twice as the head of the Arab Iron and Steel Union. Prior to his work in organized labor, Ezz was a parliamentary member representing the districts of Sadat- Monouf-Sers al-Liyan in Monofuyia from the year 2000 to 2011, and also the Chairman of the Planning and Budgeting Committee of the People's Assembly of Egypt as a member of the National Democratic Party. Egyptian Exchange
The Egyptian Exchange (EGX), Egypt's stock exchange, comprises two exchanges, Cairo and Alexandria, both governed by the same board of directors and sharing the same trading, clearing and settlement systems. Presently, the chairman of the Egyptian Exchange is Mohamed Farid. Transactions taking place in the stock exchange is not subject to capital gain tax. Dividends distributed by companies listed on the exchange to shareholders are not subject to tax. However, in 2013, a 10% capital gain tax applicable on mergers and acquisitions was imposed on the exchange. In 2013, Finance Ministry announced that the government intended to cancel a 10 percent capital gains tax imposed on mergers and acquisitions as well as a planned tax on cash dividends. Ibrahim Salem Mohammedin
Ibrahim Salem Mohammedin (إبراهيم سالم محمدين; September 15, 1921 – November 12, 2018) was an Egyptian engineer and industrialist. Mohammedin served as the Minister of Industry from 1973 until 1974 under President Anwar Sadat. In 1982, Mohammedin founded the Alexandria National Iron and Steel Company (now known as Ezz Steel) and served as its chairman from 1982 to 2001. 25 January Revolution
The 2011 Egyptian revolution, also known as the 25 January revolution ( ar, ثورة ٢٥ يناير; ), began on 25 January 2011 and spread across Egypt. The date was set by various youth groups to coincide with the annual Egyptian "Police holiday" as a statement against increasing police brutality during the last few years of Hosni Mubarak's presidency. It consisted of demonstrations, marches, occupations of plazas, non-violent civil resistance, acts of civil disobedience and strikes. Millions of protesters from a range of socio-economic and religious backgrounds demanded the overthrow of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
