Excélsior TV
Excélsior TV is a Mexican FTA news channel owned by Grupo Imagen. It is named for Imagen's ''Excélsior'' newspaper and also uses the resources of Grupo Imagen's radio stations and its Imagen Televisión national network. History Excélsior TV was launched on September 2, 2013. In addition to cable carriage, it was placed on the 27.2 subchannel of XHTRES-TDT, Imagen's existing Mexico City TV station. When Imagen shut down cadenatres in October 2015, Excélsior TV moved from 27.2 to 27.1. Coinciding with the move was a general relaunch of the channel and the migration of the cadenatres news personalities to Excélsior TV. In October 2017, Imagen began transmission of Excélsior TV on 38 Imagen Televisión transmitters, as subchannel 3.4. In late January 2020, rumors began to swirl that Excélsior TV would be shuttered and that XHTRES would be rented out to El Heraldo de México newspaper to launch a TV channel. 480i
480i is the video mode used for standard-definition digital video in the Caribbean, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines, Myanmar, Western Sahara, and most of the Americas (with the exception of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay). The other common standard definition digital standard, used in the rest of the world, is 576i. It originated from the need for a standard to digitize analog 525 line TV (defined in BT.601) and is now used for digital TV broadcasts and home appliances such as game consoles and DVD disc players. The ''480'' identifies a vertical resolution of 480 lines, and the ''i'' identifies it as an interlaced resolution. SDTV
Standard-definition television (SDTV; also standard definition or SD) is a television system that uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. ''Standard'' refers to offering a similar resolution to the analog broadcast systems used when it was introduced. Grupo Imagen
Grupo Imagen S.A.B. de C.V., commonly known as Imagen, is a Mexican media conglomerate owned by Grupo Empresarial Ángeles. As of 2016, it is the third-largest mass media company in Mexico after Televisa and TV Azteca. History Grupo Imagen traces its roots to the foundation of XEDA-AM on June 18, 1936. Imagen Televisión
Imagen Televisión is a national broadcast television network in Mexico, owned by Grupo Imagen. It launched on October 17, 2016, at 8 p.m. History Imagen on television In 2006, Imagen's parent, Grupo Empresarial Ángeles, acquired XHRAE-TV channel 28 in Mexico City from its previous owner, beleaguered businessman Raúl Aréchiga Espinoza, for US$126 million. Digital terrestrial television (DTTV, DTT, or DTTB) is a technology for terrestrial television, in which television stations broadcast television content in a digital signal, digital format. Cadenatres was a Mexican free-to-air network owned by Grupo Empresarial Ángeles (GEA), a company headed by Olegario Vázquez Raña and directed by Olegario Vázquez Aldir. Originally started by its flagship XHTRES in Mexico City as an independent terrestrial television station serving the Federal District and the Valley of Mexico, it later expanded coverage throughout the entire country through various subscription television systems and a handful of free-to-air affiliates. XEDA-FM is a radio station in Mexico City owned by Grupo Imagen. XEDA-FM is the flagship station of the Imagen Radio news/talk network which is available to other Mexican cities through Imagen's owned-and-operated stations and affiliates.
