Eugene Washington (born Eugene Washington Norman Walker; 7 August 1974) is a British actor of stage and screen. Early life Washington was born in Hammersmith, London, England, UK. Career He was last seen on stage in 2010 playing the title role in Shakespeare's ''Othello'' in a 9-month world tour in a joint venture for American Drama Group Europe (ADGE) and TNT Theatre, which saw him perform to audiences in Israel, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Isle of Man, Jersey, Costa Rica, El Salvador and China. Hammersmith is a district of West London, England, southwest of Charing Cross. It is the administrative centre of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, and identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. ''Paul'' is a 2005 play by Howard Brenton, which portrays the life and career of Paul the Apostle. It was first performed in the Cottesloe auditorium of the National Theatre, London from 30 September 2005 – 4 February 2006, in modern dress. The press night was postponed due to the exhaustion of Paul Rhys and his replacement by Adam Godley, while the National received 200 letters of complaint even before opening night. Howard John Brenton FRSL (born 13 December 1942) is an English playwright and screenwriter. While little-known in the United States, he is celebrated in his home country and often ranked alongside contemporaries such as Edward Bond, Caryl Churchill, and David Hare. Early years Brenton was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, son of policeman (later Methodist minister) Donald Henry Brenton and his wife Rose Lilian (née Lewis). He was educated at Chichester High School For Boys and read English Literature at St Catharine's College, Cambridge. Simon Charles Pendered MacCorkindale (12 February 1952 – 14 October 2010) was a British actor, film director, writer and producer. He spent much of his childhood moving around owing to his father's career as an officer with the Royal Air Force. Poor eyesight prevented him from following a similar career in the RAF, so he instead planned to become a theatre director. Training at Studio 68 of Theatre Arts in London, he started work as an actor, making his West End debut in 1974.
