Donald Ethell
Donald Stewart Ethell (born July 23, 1937) is a retired Canadian Army colonel and was the 17th lieutenant governor of Alberta from 2010 to 2015. Career Ethell was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1937, the son of a nurse and a navy chief petty officer. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1955 after being rejected by the Navy and rejected from the Air Force. Ethell enlisted as a rifleman in the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada at the age of 17 and underwent basic training at the Currie Barracks in Calgary. He served in West Germany during the Cold War and rebadged to Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in 1970 when the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada was removed from regular army service. He rose through the non-commissioned officer ranks to warrant officer until he was commissioned as an officer in 1972. Jeffrey Ethell
Jeffrey Ethell (1947– 6 June 1997) was an American aviation author and pilot who wrote extensively on aviation and military matters. He was killed on June 6, 1997, when the restored P-38 Lightning he was flying crashed at Tillamook, Oregon, while preparing for an airshow to honor his father. Starting at a young age, Ethell published technical studies of WWII-era aircraft and eventually authored 60 books and over 1,000 magazine articles covering all aspects of aviation. He soloed at 18 and logged over 4,800 hours in over 210 types of aircraft, including most of the warbirds of the allied and Axis sides from WWII. His works on color photography of the World War II era brought to life an era which too many thought had only been filmed in black and white. While attending college in Tennessee in the 1960s, Ethell received research grants from the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution, and went on to guest lecture at colleges and academic institutes. Patricia Ethell McDonald (1 August 1921 – 10 March 1990) was an Australian actress of radio, stage and screen, primarily in small screen. She appeared primarily in radio and TV in soap opera's and became best known locally for her role in serial '' Number 96'', after which she found prominence with the internationally successful '' Sons snd Daughters''.
