Espejo is a canton of Ecuador, located in Carchi Province. Its capital is the town of El Ángel. Its population in the 2001 census was 13,515 and in the 2010 census was 13,364. Espejo is in the Andes and El Angel has an elevation of above sea level. Espejo canton contains the parishes of El Ángel (Anhil), El Goaltal, La Libertad (Alizo), and San Isidro. Mestizo
(; ; fem. ) is a term used for racial classification to refer to a person of mixed European and Indigenous American ancestry. In certain regions such as Latin America, it may also refer to people who are culturally European even though their ancestors are not. The term was used as an ethnic/racial category for mixed-race that evolved during the Spanish Empire.
