Eric Dick (born October 3, 1994) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Major League Soccer club Minnesota United. Career College and youth Dick moved from Roeland Park, Kansas, to Carmel, Indiana when he was 5 He played two years of college soccer at Butler University between 2013 and 2017, including a redshirted year in 2013. During his time at Butler, Dick kept 28 shutouts. Dick also appeared for Premier Development League sides Portland Timbers U23s in 2015 and OKC Energy U23 in 2017. Professional On January 19, 2018, Dick was drafted in the first-round (13th overall) during the 2018 MLS SuperDraft by Sporting Kansas City. Dick signed with Sporting KC on February 15, 2018. 2021 MLS Re-Entry Draft
The 2021 MLS Re-Entry Draft took place on December 17, 2021 (Stage 1) and December 23, 2021 (Stage 2). All 28 Major League Soccer clubs were eligible to participate. The priority order for the MLS Re-Entry Draft was reverse order of playoff finish in 2021, taking into account their regular season finish. The 2022 expansion team, Charlotte FC, received the last overall selection. Teams had the option of passing on their selection. For players selected in Stage 1 of the Re-Entry draft, clubs had to exercise the option for, or extend a Bona Fide Offer to, all players selected and may not select their own draft-eligible players. MLS Re-Entry Draft
The MLS Re-Entry Draft is an annual event in which Major League Soccer teams select players who are out of contract or have had their options declined by their current teams. Although the single-entity league does not have true free agency, the re-entry draft was created to provide an outlet of internal movement for veteran players. History The Re-Entry Draft was created by the collective bargaining agreement reached in March 2010. Under the previous rules, clubs could hold what amounted to a 48-hour first right of refusal on players whose contracts had expired or did not have the options picked up.
