Endem TV Tower
Endem TV Tower is a TV tower in Büyükçekmece, Istanbul, Turkey. It was built between 1998 and 2008, and has a now-closed revolving restaurant above ground, as well as an observation deck at . The total height of the tower is including the antenna. Helicopter crash On March 10, 2017, a Sikorsky S-76 helicopter owned by Swan Aviation hit the antenna of the TV tower in heavy fog and crashed onto the nearby highway State Road D100. All seven people on board were killed. Büyükçekmece, historically Athyras (Greek: Αθύρας) is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 173 km2, and its population is 277,181 (2022). It is on the Sea of Marmara coast of the European side, west of the city. It is largely an industrial area. The mayor is Ahmet Şahin ( CHP). History The land around this inlet of the Sea of Marmara, has been settled, abandoned and resettled throughout history as army after army passed along the coast to the Bosphorus. Beylikdüzü
Beylikdüzü () is a municipality and district of Istanbul Province, Turkey. Its area is 39 km2, and its population is 415,290 (2024). It is on the European side of Istanbul, located north of the Sea of Marmara, south of Esenyurt, east of Büyükçekmece, and west of Avcılar. History It is assumed that Beylikdüzü was first settled by Greeks from Byzantion in the second century AD as a farming village. It later became a popular resort for residents of Constantinople in the Byzantine Empire, a status that continued after the Fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Empire. The region was referred to as "Garden" in the later Ottoman period, and following the foundation of the Turkish Republic was called "Kavaklı," after the large number of poplar trees, a name which was used until 2003.
