Emomali Sobirzoda
Lieutenant General Emomali Abdur Rahim Sobirzoda (Tajik language, Tajik: Эмомалӣ Абдураҳим Собирзода; born July 20, 1972) is a Tajik military leader and the current Chief of the General Staff (Tajikistan), Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan. He also serves as First Deputy Minister of Defense, serving since November 2015 when he replaced Major General Zarif Bobokalonov. He recently oversaw the development of military relations between Tajikistan, Russia, the United States and Uzbekistan. Biography Sobirzoda was born on July 20, 1972, in the city of Vahdat to a family of labor workers. He commenced his military career in 1992, immediately serving in military units that were deployed during the Tajik Civil War. Sherali Khayrulloyevich Khayrulloyev (; ; born 8 November 1949) is a retired Tajikistani general and politician. He was the Minister of Defense of Tajikistan from 1995 to 2013. Early life He was born in November 1949 in the village of Hamadoni, in the Danghara District of the Kulob Oblast. He is Tajik by ethnicity. He graduated from high school in 1966. The Tajik Ground Forces (), known officially as the Ground Forces of the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan are the land forces of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan. Formed during the Tajikistani Civil War, it makes up about 70 percent of the country's Armed Forces. Kulob or Khatlon is a city in Khatlon Region in southern Tajikistan. Located southeast of the capital Dushanbe on the river Yakhsu (a right tributary of Panj), it is one of the largest cities in the country. Regional groups from the Garm, Tajikistan, Garm and Gorno-Badakhshan regions of Tajikistan rose up against the newly formed government of President Rahmon Nabiyev, which was dominated by people from the Khujand and Kulab, Tajikistan, Kulob regions.
