Palatine Bridge, New York
Palatine Bridge is a village in Montgomery County, New York, United States. The population was 796 at the 2020 census. The name refers to the community's location in a region settled by Palatine Germans. The village is in the town of Palatine. History Palatine Bridge was settled in 1723. A bridge across the Mohawk River here built in 1798 gave the community its name. The village was incorporated in 1867. The Frey House and Palatine Bridge Freight House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hiram Barton
Hiram Barton (1810–1880) was mayor of the city of Buffalo, New York, serving 1849–1850 and 1852–1853. He was born in Hebron, New York on May 20, 1810. He attended Middlebury College in Vermont, where he studied law. He moved to Buffalo in 1835 and formed a law partnership. In 1840, he married Lucy Ann Clark of Buffalo. In 1843 Barton was elected alderman of the Third Ward, and again in 1844. He was elected as the Whig choice for Mayor on March 7, 1849. Forest Lawn Cemetery is a historic rural cemetery in Buffalo, New York, founded in 1849 by Charles E. Clarke. It covers over and over 152,000 are buried there, including U.S. President Millard Fillmore, First Lady Abigail Fillmore, singer Rick James, Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, and inventors Lawrence Dale Bell and Willis Carrier.
