"Elevation" is a song by Irish rock band U2. It is the third track on their tenth studio album, ''All That You Can't Leave Behind'' (2000), and was released as the album's third single on 25 June 2001. The song became the band's 16th number-one single in their native Ireland and their second number one in the Netherlands. It also topped the charts in Canada and reached the top 10 in Australia, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Norway, Scotland, Spain, and on the UK Singles Chart. A different mix of the song, entitled the "''Tomb Raider'' mix", was included on the soundtrack of the 2001 film '' Lara Croft: Tomb Raider''. In 2002, "Elevation" won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal at the 44th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony. ''All That You Can't Leave Behind'' is the tenth studio album by Irish rock band U2. It was produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, and was released on 30October 2000 through Island Records worldwide and through Interscope Records in the United States. After the band's experimentation with alternative rock and dance music in the 1990s, and driven by the mixed reception to their 1997 album '' Pop'', U2 returned to a sound more akin to their earlier records for ''All That You Can't Leave Behind''. The group reunited with Eno and Lanois, who had produced three prior U2 albums together. The record was originally named "U2000", which had been a working title for their PopMart Tour. Adam Charles Clayton (born 13 March 1960) is an English-Irish musician who is the bass guitarist of the rock music, rock band U2. Born in Oxfordshire, England, he lived in County Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland after his family moved to Malahide in 1965, when he was five years old. "Kite" is a song by Irish rock band U2. It is the fifth track on their 2000 album '' All That You Can't Leave Behind''. Writing and recording For three weeks in late 1998, U2 worked at Hanover Quay Studios with producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois in hopes of quickly developing new material for a studio album, which would become '' All That You Can't Leave Behind''. With Eno on keyboards and Lanois on rhythm guitar and percussion, the six of them composed songs during jam sessions. Guitarist the Edge said that these group sessions did not produce many great ideas, resulting in him bringing in his own individual musical ideas for them to work on. Wah-wah (or wa-wa) is an imitative word (or onomatopoeia) for the sound of altering the resonance of musical notes to extend expressiveness, sounding much like a human voice saying the syllable ''wah''. The wah-wah effect is a spectral glide, a "modification of the vowel quality of a tone". Hiwatt (stylized in all caps) is a British company that manufactures amplifiers for electric guitars and electric basses. Starting in the late 1960s, together with Marshall and Vox, Hiwatt contributed to the sonic image popularly termed "British sound".
