Elafos, Pieria
Elafos () is a village and a community of the Katerini municipality. Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Elafina, of which it was a municipal district. The community of Elafos covers an area of 10.699 km2. Central Macedonia
Central Macedonia ( ; , ) is one of the thirteen Regions of Greece, administrative regions of Greece, consisting the central part of the Geographic regions of Greece, geographical and historical region of Macedonia (Greece), Macedonia. With a population of almost 1.8 million, it is the second most populous region in Greece after Attica (region), Attica. Pieria (regional Unit)
Pieria () is one of the regional units of Greece located in the southern part of the Central Macedonia, Region of Central Macedonia, within the historical province of Macedonia (Greece), Macedonia. Its capital is the town of Katerini. The name Pieria originates from the ancient Pieres tribe. In Pieria, there are many sites of archeological interest, such as Archaeological Park of Dion, Dion, Pydna (Ancient Site), Pydna, Leivithra and Platamon Castle, Platamonas. Pieria contains Mount Pierus of Emathia, Pierus, from which Hermes takes flight in order to visit Calypso (mythology), Calypso, and is the home of Orpheus, the Muses, and contains the Pierian Spring. Katerini
Katerini (, ''Kateríni'', ) is a city and municipality in northern Greece, the capital city of Regional Unit of Piera in Central Macedonia, Greece. It lies on the Pierian plain, between Mount Olympus and the Thermaikos Gulf, at an altitude of 14 m. The municipality of Katerini has a population of 82,892 (according to the 2021 census). It is the second most populous urban area in the region of Macedonia after Thessaloniki. The close distance between the two cities (68 km), has been beneficial for Katerini's development over recent years. Katerini is accessible from the A1/ E75 Athens–Thessaloniki motorway (with the Katerini's South, East and North interchanges) and the A2 motorway to the north. Mount Olympus
Mount Olympus (, , ) is an extensive massif near the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea, located on the border between Thessaly and Macedonia (Greece), Macedonia, between the regional units of Larissa (regional unit), Larissa and Pieria (regional unit), Pieria, about southwest from Thessaloniki. The municipalities of Greece ( , in singular case ) are the lowest level of government within the organizational structure of the state.
