Hanns Eisler
Hanns Eisler (6 July 1898 – 6 September 1962) was a German-Austrian composer. He is best known for composing the national anthem of East Germany, for his long artistic association with Bertolt Brecht, and for the scores he wrote for films. The Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin is named after him. Family background Johannes Eisler was born in Leipzig in Saxony, the third child of Rudolf Eisler, a professor of philosophy, and Marie Ida Fischer. Brenda Lee Eisler (born October 16, 1951) is a retired long jumper from Canada, who competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics. Biography Eisler took home a bronze medal from the Pacific Conference Games in 1969. She won the gold medal at the 1971 Pan American Games. Georg Eisler
Georg Eisler (20 April 1928, Vienna – 15 January 1998, Vienna) was an Austrian painter who became widely known as one of the most prominent post-WWII painters. He is well known today for his many portraits of artists and intellectuals. Trained by Oskar Kokoschka in exile in London, Eisler soon developed his own artistic style. His father Hanns Eisler was a composer and his mother Charlotte Eisler, née Demant a well-known singer and music teacher. His subject matter themes have included landscapes (often industrial featuring the north of England where he had lived after evacuating from Austria in 1936), group or crowd scenes (including jazz clubs and public transport) as well as nudes and still lifes. He returned to Vienna in 1946 where he died in 1998. Gerhart Eisler (20 February 1897 – 21 March 1968) was a German politician, editor and journalist. Along with his sister Ruth Fischer, he was a very early member of the Austrian German Communist Party (KPDÖ) and then a prominent member of the Communist Party of Germany during the Weimar Republic. Life and career Early life Eisler was born in Leipzig, the son of Marie Edith Fischer and Rudolf Eisler, a professor of philosophy at Leipzig but of Austrian nationality. His father was Jewish and his mother was Lutheran. His brother was the leftist composer Hanns Eisler and his sister was Communist activist Ruth Fischer. Lloyd Edgar Eisler, MSM, (born April 28, 1963) is a former Canadian pairs skater. With partner Isabelle Brasseur, he was the 1992 and 1994 Olympic bronze medallist and the 1993 World Champion. Early partnerships and success Eisler first competed with Lori Baier. They won three consecutive Canadian Championship silver medals from 1980 to 1982 and competed at the 1982 World Figure Skating Championships, finishing in ninth place. Edmund Samuel Eysler (12 March 1874 – 4 October 1949), was an Austrian composer. Biography Edmund Eysler was born in Vienna to a merchant family. He was supposed to enter the engineering profession, but his acquaintance with Leo Fall led him to study music at the Vienna Conservatory, where he studied composition under Robert Fuchs, and became educated as a piano teacher and Kapellmeister. After completing his degree with many plaudits, Eysler made ends meet by teaching piano. In 1898, he married Poldi Allnoch, with whom he had two daughters, and in 1901, he found a position as a Kapellmeister. After that, he composed chamber music and piano pieces, as well as the opera ''Fest auf Solhaug'' (''Celebration on Solhaug''), and the ballet ''Schlaraffenland''.
