Eighteen Chefs
Eighteen Chefs is a restaurant chain and franchise company in Singapore based on the principle of social enterprise. The restaurants serve mainly Western cuisine but local food is also found on the menu. As of September 2020, Eighteen Chefs has a total of eleven outlets in Singapore. History The first Eighteen Chefs outlet was opened in 2007, at Eastpoint Mall, by an ex-offender and former drug addict Benny Se Teo, who had difficulty finding a job. While on an internship with Jamie Oliver, he heard about the Jamie's Kitchen#Fifteen Foundation, Fifteen Foundation. He started Eighteen Chefs along similar lines, and is now the director of the company in 2015. Three of the outlets, located at Yishun, Tiong Bahru and Buona Vista were closed in 2009 because of financial losses. Jamie Oliver
James Trevor Oliver MBE OSI (born 27 May 1975) is an English chef, restaurateur and cookbook author. He is known for his casual approach to cuisine, which has led him to front numerous television shows and open many restaurants. Oliver reached the public eye when his series '' The Naked Chef'' premiered in 1999. In 2005, he opened a campaign, Feed Me Better, to introduce schoolchildren to healthier foods, which was later backed by the government. He was the owner of a restaurant chain, Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group, which opened its first restaurant, Jamie's Italian, in Oxford in 2008. The chain went into administration in May 2019. His TED Talk won him the 2010 TED Prize. In June 2003, Oliver was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire for "services to the hospitality industry". Jamie's Kitchen
''Jamie's Kitchen'' is a five-part British Documentary film, documentary television series that aired on Channel 4 from 5 November to 10 December 2002. It follows chef Jamie Oliver as he attempts to train a group of 15 disadvantaged youth, who will—if they complete the course—be offered jobs at Oliver's new restaurant Fifteen. Tiong Bahru
Tiong Bahru is a housing estate located within the Bukit Merah Planning Area, in the Central Region of Singapore. Tiong Bahru was constructed in the 1920s by the Singapore Improvement Trust, the predecessor to the Housing Development Board and an entity of the British colonial authority providing mass public housing in Singapore and is the oldest housing estate in Singapore. The main estate consists of 30 apartment blocks with over 900 units of two to five rooms. There are also high-rise Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats and condominiums along Boon Tiong Road, Jalan Membina and Kim Tian Road which surround the main estate. Buona Vista
Buona Vista is a housing estate located in the subzones of one-north and Holland Drive in the residential township of Queenstown in Singapore. The housing estate is served by the Buona Vista MRT station which links it up with the MRT system. It also has a bus terminal.
