Ee (band)
Ee (sometimes appearing as ee, EE, or eE) is an American, San Francisco-based indie rock band, that formed in 1999 by former Korea Girl guitarist/vocalist Tobin Mori and bassist Jay Chow/Che Chou. Earlier band members included Brian Gathy, Peter Newman, Susan Parker, and Thom Morrison, and were later replaced by Peter Nguyen on drums, and longtime Seam member Sooyoung Park on lead guitar and keyboard. All members of Ee are Asian-American. They recorded their debut album, ''Ramadan'', in the fall of 1999 and released it on Currycore Records. After some lineup changes Ee released an EP and second album second album, ''For 100 We Try Harder'', on Asian Man Records in 2002. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Korea Girl
Korea Girl was an American indie rock band from San Jose, California. The band's members included Elizabeth Yi on vocals and guitar, Tobin Mori on guitar, vocals, and keyboard, Summer on electric bass guitar and Marc Duarte on drums. The group received a Bammie (Bay Area Music Award) nomination in 1997 for Outstanding Independent Album. Che Chou later joined the band temporarily, but does not appear on any of the group's recordings. Scott Landucci later replaced Duarte on drums. Mori and Chou currently play in Ee. The group was formed in January 1996 and broke up in 1999 due to conflicts between the two singers. They released one CD (''Korea Girl'' in 1997; rereleased in 1999 with additional bonus tracks) and one 7" (''Reunion'' in 1997) on Asian Man Records, and also appear on various Asian Man compilation CDs as well as a video/DVD. Seam (band)
Seam was an American indie rock band from Chicago (formerly from Chapel Hill, North Carolina). Active from 1991 to 2000, it was led by Sooyoung Park, former frontman of Bitch Magnet. Sooyoung Park
Sooyoung Park (born 1967) is an American and South Korean singer-songwriter, best known for fronting the bands Bitch Magnet and Seam (band), Seam. In 1995 he co-founded Foundation of Asian American Independent Media, an art festival dedicated to showcasing Asian American culture.
