Ed Young (illustrator)
Ed Tse-chun Young (; November 28, 1931 – September 29, 2023) was a Chinese-born American illustrator and writer of children's picture books and tai chi instructor. He has received many awards and recognitions, including the Caldecott Medal and Lifetime Achievement awards for his contributions as a children's illustrator. Biography Ed Young was born on November 28, 1931, in Tianjin, China. When he was three years old, he and his family moved to Shanghai. From an early age, Ed loved to create stories and draw sketches. In 1951, Young came to the U.S. to study architecture. He grew more interested in art and switched his major. Young's first job was with a New York advertising agency where he spent his lunch breaks sketching animals at the Central Park Zoo. Homer Edwin Young
Homer Edwin Young (born August 11, 1936), often called simply Ed Young, is the former senior pastor of the megachurch Second Baptist Church of Houston, Texas. He is father to sons Ed Young, pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas; Ben Young, at Second Baptist Houston; and Cliff Young, director of Second Films and leader of the Christian folk/pop group Caedmon's Call. Early life and education Young was born on August 11, 1936, in Laurel in southeastern Mississippi to an impoverished family. He entered the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa as an engineering major. But halfway through his freshman year he answered the call of the ministry and enrolled at Mississippi College in Clinton. Edwin Barry "Ed" Young (born March 16, 1961) is the founding and senior pastor of Fellowship Church. Early life Born in Canton, North Carolina, Young is the oldest son of Homer Edwin Young, senior pastor of Second Baptist Church Houston in Houston, Texas. He attended and played basketball at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, where he received a basketball scholarship. After his sophomore year, he transferred to Houston Baptist University where he received his bachelor's degree followed by a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Edward George Christopher Young (born 1989) is an English cricketer, a right-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler who last played for Gloucestershire. He made his first-class debut for Oxford UCCE against Worcestershire in April 2009. Young signed a two-year development contract with Gloucestershire in August 2010 whilst also studying at Oxford Brookes University. Young's older brother, Peter was also a cricketer and also played nine first-class games for Oxford UCCE. The Young Skyheater is an American aircraft that was designed by Ed Young for homebuilt construction. Design and development The Skyheater is a two-seat, single engine, conventional landing gear-equipped, parasol wing aircraft. Rather than a separate distinct vertical tail section, the Skyheater fuselage is tapered only along its sides, leaving a square tail or full-height dorsal fin extending to the wing root. Hugh Edwin Young (May 3, 1917 – January 2, 2012) served as Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1968 to 1977 and President of the University of Wisconsin System from 1977 to 1980.
