Dynamix
Dynamix, Inc. was an American developer of video games from 1984 to 2001, best known for the flight simulator ''Red Baron'', the puzzle game '' The Incredible Machine'', the '' Front Page Sports'' series, ''Betrayal at Krondor,'' and the online multiplayer game ''Tribes''. History The company was founded in Eugene, Oregon in 1984 by Jeff Tunnell and Damon Slye. Their first title, ''Stellar 7'', was released before company founding and was later remade with the Dynamix name on it. They made a number of games for the Commodore 64, among them Project Firestart, which was one of the most atmospheric titles for the C64. In the following years, Dynamix created a line of action games for Penguin Software and Electronic Arts, including one of the first games for the Commodore Amiga, ''Arcticfox''. Jeff Tunnell
Jeffrey Tunnell is a video game producer, programmer and designer. In 1984 he founded Dynamix with Damon Slye in Eugene, Oregon. In 1990, Tunnell left Dynamix to start Jeff Tunnell Productions. Tunnell would go on to create famous brands such as '' The Incredible Machine'', '' Trophy Bass'', and the '' 3-D Ultra Pinball'' series while at Jeff Tunnell Productions. These products were some of the most successful retail products to be published by Dynamix. In 1993, '' Sid & Al's Incredible Toons'' earned Tunnell and Chris Cole a patent for the game's concepts. In 1995, Tunnell returned to Dynamix in a leadership role. In 2001, after Dynamix was disbanded, Tunnell co-founded GarageGames, an independent video game publisher, which is also the developer of the Torque Game Engine. Damon Slye
Damon Slye (born June 15, 1962) is a computer game designer, director, and programmer. In 1984 he founded Dynamix with Jeff Tunnell in Eugene, Oregon. He is best known for creating the historic flight simulations ''Red Baron'', '' A-10 Tank Killer'', and '' Aces of the Pacific''. Slye's first product was '' Stellar 7'', an action game for the Apple II which used 3D wireframe graphics. ''Red Baron'' is a combat flight simulation video game for MS-DOS created by Damon Slye at Dynamix. It was published by Sierra On-Line in 1990. The game is set on the Western Front of World War I. The player can engage in single missions or career mode, flying for either the German Air Service or the Royal Flying Corps. In the course of the game the player might find themselves either flying in the Red Baron's squadron Jasta 11, or encountering him as an enemy above the front. An expansion pack, ''Red Baron: Mission Builder'', was released in 1992. A port of the game for the Nintendo 64 was announced, but was later cancelled. The Adventures Of Willy Beamish
''The Adventures of Willy Beamish'' is a graphic adventure game developed by Dynamix and published in 1991 by Sierra On-Line. The player takes on the role of nine-year-old Willy Beamish in a game that somewhat parodies the adventure genre. The game pioneered the use of in-game graphics drawn to resemble classic hand-drawn cartoon animation. It was initially released for MS-DOS and the Commodore Amiga and was ported to the Sega CD in 1993. CD versions of the game complemented the in-game text with speech, and included a few other cosmetic changes. A sequel was reportedly planned starring Willy Beamish as a late teenager, but the project was canceled. ''Arcticfox'' is a science fiction tank simulation video game developed by Dynamix and published by Electronic Arts in 1986. It was published in Europe by Ariolasoft. A sequel to Dynamix's ''Stellar 7'', ''Arcticfox'' was developed for the Amiga as one of the platform's first titles but was quickly ported to other platforms including the Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, MS-DOS and Apple II. A third game was released in the series in 1991 titled '' Nova 9: The Return of Gir Draxon''. ''A-10 Tank Killer'' is a 1989 combat flight simulation video game for DOS developed and published by Dynamix. An Amiga version was released in 1990. The game features an A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft. Following the success of ''Red Baron'', version 1.5 was released in 1991 which included Gulf War missions and improved graphics and sounds. Several mission packs were sold separately. A sequel published by Sierra, '' Silent Thunder: A-10 Tank Killer II'', was released in 1996. Gameplay The gameplay consists of the player piloting an A-10 Thunderbolt II "tank killer" through various combat missions set in the Gulf War air campaign as well as a fictional European scenario. ''Stellar 7'' is a first-person shooter tank simulation video game based on the arcade game '' Battlezone'' in which the player assumes the role of a futuristic tank pilot. The game was originally created by Damon Slye for the Apple II and Commodore 64 in 1983. It was followed by three sequels, ''Arcticfox'' (1986), '' Nova 9: The Return of Gir Draxon'' (1991), and '' Stellar 7: Draxon's Revenge'' (1993), and was remade in the early 1990s for the 16-bit computers. Gameplay The player's tank, the Raven, has a front-facing cannon with an unlimited supply of bullets. The cannon can fire up to two shots at a time. The tank also has a cloaking device that, when triggered, would render it invisible to enemies for about a minute. ''Sid & Al's Incredible Toons'' is a puzzle video game developed by Dynamix and released by Sierra On-Line in 1993. Summary This video game is designed with the same style as that of '' The Incredible Machine'', except that the game takes place on a cartoon stage instead of a laboratory. The game focuses on the humorous adventures of the game's two main characters, Sid E. Mouse and Al E. Cat (both puns on 'city mouse' and 'alley cat', respectively), as each tries to make life unbearable for the other. It features 100 puzzles and an editor, which allows players to design their own puzzles. The main objective of the game is to finish a "puzzle-piece" photograph by completing each puzzle.
