Dust (comics)
Dust (real name Sooraya Qadir) is a superheroine appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character usually appears in X-Men-related comic books. Sooraya is a mutant with the ability to transform her body into a pliable cloud of dust. The X-Men travel to Afghanistan to rescue Sooraya, whose abilities have made her the target of antagonists. Publication history Dust was created by author Grant Morrison and artist Ethan Van Sciver in '' New X-Men'' #133 (December 2002), although her character was not fully developed until the '' New X-Men: Academy X'' series written by Christina Weir and Nunzio DeFilippis. An American comic book is a thin periodical originating in the United States, on average 32 pages, containing comics. While the form originated in 1933, American comic books first gained popularity after the 1938 publication of ''Action Comics'', which included the debut of the superhero Superman. Decimation (comics)
"Decimation" is a storyline published by Marvel Comics in 2005, spinning out of the events of the ''House of M'' limited series. The event started with a one-shot issue and took place in a number of various series all carrying the "Decimation" logo on the cover. The 2005 miniseries '' Generation M'', '' Sentinel Squad O*N*E'', '' X-Men: Deadly Genesis'' and '' X-Men: The 198'' were all launched specifically for the "Decimation" storyline. The various stories were collected in five trade paper backs. The storyline focuses on the ramifications of the Scarlet Witch stripping nearly all of the mutant population of their powers, thereby reducing a society of millions to one of scant hundreds. The X-Mansion or Xavier Institute is the common name for a mansion and research institute appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The mansion is depicted as the private estate of Charles Francis Xavier, a character in X-Men comics. It serves as the base of operations and training site of the X-Men. It is also the location of an accredited private school for mutant children, teenagers, and sometimes older aged mutants, the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, formerly the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters.
