Duanne Olivier
Duanne Olivier (born 9 May 1992) is a South African cricketer who plays for the South Africa cricket team and for the Knights cricket team in domestic fixtures. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler. In February 2019, Olivier signed a Kolpak deal to play for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in England, which meant he could not play for South Africa during his contract with Yorkshire. After signing his Kolpak deal, Olivier expressed his hopes to one day play for the England cricket team. When the Kolpak deal ended in 2021 due to Brexit, Olivier continued as an overseas player for Yorkshire and was selected in South Africa's Test squad ahead of their series against India. Domestic and franchise career Olivier was the leading wicket-taker in the 2016–17 Sunfoil Series, with 52 dismissals. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). 2018–19 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series
The 2018–19 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from 26 September 2018 to 31 January 2019. It was the first edition not to be sponsored by Sunfoil, after they decided not to renew their sponsorship. Lions won the tournament, after beating Warriors in the final match of the competition. They won the fixture, with just nine deliveries left in the game, to gain enough bonus points to overtake the Cape Cobras. Titans were the defending champions, but finished in last place, with just one win in their ten matches. 2018 Mzansi Super League
The 2018 Mzansi Super League was the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket tournament in South Africa. It started on 16 November and finished on 16 December 2018. Six teams played a total of thirty-two matches. The players' draft took place on 17 October 2018, with more than 200 international players expressing their interest to take part. On 18 October 2018, it was announced that Global Sports Commerce (GSC) is the official international commercial and broadcast partner from 2018 up to 2022. The 2016–17 Sunfoil Series was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from 5 October 2016 to 12 February 2017. The competition was split into two halves, with the first group of fixtures played in October and November, and the remaining matches played January and February.
