Dororo
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the manga artist Osamu Tezuka. Tezuka's childhood memory of his friends pronouncing as ''dororo'' inspired the title of the series. ''Dororo'' was first serialized in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' between August 1967 and July 1968, before being cancelled. The manga was then concluded in Akita Shoten's ''Bōken'ō'' magazine in 1969. A 26-episode anime television series adaptation by Mushi Productions aired in 1969. The anime series bears the distinction of being the first entry in what is now known as the ''World Masterpiece Theater'' series (''Calpis Comic Theater'' at the time). ''Dororo'' was also made into a live-action film in 2007. A 24-episode second anime television series adaptation by MAPPA and Tezuka Productions aired from January to June 2019. Dororo (1969 TV Series)
The 1969 ''Dororo'' black and white anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka. In 1968, in order to pitch the series, Tezuka created a 13-minute full-color pilot which summarized the story Hyakkimaru's birth and upbringing and meeting with Dororo, and an abbreviated version of ''The Tale of the Monster Bandai''. The series was produced in black and white coloring due to budget cuts, but made the demons look more weird and menacing. While reasonably faithful to the original ''Dororo'' (1967–69) manga, the network was originally concerned that the series was too dark because of the bloody battles, vistas of carnage and burning villages, so the cute dog Nota was added to the cast. In addition, the original grim music was replaced with a new and catchy piece, and the original animation of Dororo marching through fields of corpses was replaced with scenes of Dororo skipping playfully across village roofs. Dororo (2019 TV Series)
is a 2019 anime television series produced by MAPPA and Tezuka Productions based on the manga of the same name by Osamu Tezuka, and is a re-adaptation of the previous 1969 series. The adaptation departs from the source material in several ways, but follows the basic premise of the manga: a young '' ronin'', named Hyakkimaru, along with a young child, Dororo, must face multiple demons in Sengoku-era Japan who have stolen his various body parts in order to get them back. The main innovation was the new portrayal of Hyakkimaru, a weaker samurai than the one written by Tezuka with director Kazuhiro Furuhashi among other staff member conceiving the alternate of take of the young swordsman becoming a new person following his journey with Dororo in a similar manner to buddy films. ''Blood Will Tell: Tezuka Osamu's Dororo'', released as in Japan, is a 2004 PlayStation 2 game released by Sega. It is based on the Japanese manga series ''Dororo'', which was created by Osamu Tezuka. It concerns a hero named Hyakkimaru, who has had much of his body stolen by forty-eight fiends, and has prosthetic replacements. Along with his ally, the thief Dororo, Hyakkimaru must defeat all forty-eight fiends. ''Dororo'' is a 2007 Japanese dark fantasy action film based on the 1960s manga series by Osamu Tezuka. It was filmed in New Zealand. was a Japanese TV anime staple that showcased an animated version of a different classical book or story each year from 19:30 to 20:00 on Sunday on Fuji TV. It originally aired from 1969 to 1997 and from 2007 to 2009. Commonly abbreviated to .
