Don Gaffney
Donald G. Gaffney (born February 1, 1954) is an American former college football player and politician. Gaffney was the first African-American to play quarterback for the Florida Gators football team of the University of Florida, and was later elected to the Florida House of Representatives, until he resigned following his conviction for extortion. Biography Gaffney was born on February 1, 1954, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was an All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection at quarterback, and led the Gators to three bowl games ( Tangerine Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and Gator Bowl) as their starting quarterback from 1973 until 1975. His younger brother Derrick Gaffney also had a successful collegiate football career. His brothers Warren and Johnny also played football for the Florida Gators. Betty Holzendorf
Betty S. Holzendorf is an American former politician from Florida. She served four years in the Florida House of Representatives and 10 years in the Florida Senate. Life and career Holzendorf graduated from Edward Waters College and the University of North Florida, both in Jacksonville. In the 1960s she was an administrative aide to mayor Jake Godbold. She married King Holzendorf who served as a city councilman in Jacksonville. One of their sons was convicted of mortgage fraud. She was defeated in 2003 in a race for the Mayor of Jacksonville. Derrick Tyrone Gaffney (born May 24, 1955) is an American former college and professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons during the 1970s and 1980s. Gaffney played college football for the University of Florida, and thereafter, he played professionally for the New York Jets of the NFL.
