Dompierre-sur-Authie
Dompierre-sur-Authie (, literally ''Dompierre on Authie''; pcd, Dompierre-su-Eutie) is a commune in the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France. It is slowly depopulating like most of the countryside towns of this region, with the last shop and last hairdresser in the village having closed in the 1990s. Nevertheless, there is a strong identity and social life in the town, which retains its own primary school. Geography The commune is situated on the D119 road, on the banks of the river Authie, the department border with the Pas-de-Calais, some north of Abbeville. The railway line, part of the Réseau des Bains de Mer system opened on 19 June 1892 and closed on 10 March 1947. Dompierre-sur-Authie was the northern terminus of the branch from Abbeville. Réseau Des Bains De Mer
The Réseau des Bains de Mer (RBM) was a group of five metre gauge railways centred on Noyelles-sur-Mer, with a total route length of some . It was a part of the ''Chemins de fer départementaux de la Somme''. Three of the lines are still open as the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme heritage line, and are dealt with under that article. Authie (river)
The Authie (; ; ()) is a river in northern France whose course crosses the departement of the Pas-de-Calais and the Somme. Its source is near the village of Coigneux. It flows through the towns of Doullens, Auxi-le-Château, Nempont-Saint-Firmin and Nampont, finally flowing out into the Channel near Berck. Its steady flow has attracted mankind for many centuries, developing an agricultural environment that is still dominant today. The valley of the Authie, with many towns, villages, abbeys and chateaux, holds a rich architectural heritage alongside the banks of the river, while the river mouth forms a sizeable bay between Fort-Mahon-Plage and Berck, typical of Picardy estuaries. Abbeville (, vls, Abbekerke, pcd, Advile) is a commune in the Somme department and in Hauts-de-France region in northern France. It is the chef-lieu of one of the arrondissements of Somme. Located on the river Somme, it was the capital of Ponthieu. Its inhabitants are called the ''Abbevillois''.
