Doctor Who (series 2)
The second series of British science fiction programme '' Doctor Who'' began on 25 December 2005 with the Christmas special "The Christmas Invasion". Following the special, a regular series of thirteen episodes was broadcast, starting with " New Earth" on 15 April 2006. In addition, two short special episodes were produced; a Children in Need special and an interactive episode, as well as 13 '' TARDISODEs''. It is the second series of the revival of the show, and the twenty-eighth season overall. This is the first series to feature David Tennant as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor, an alien Time Lord who travels through time and space in his TARDIS, which appears to be a British police box on the outside. He continues to travel with his companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper), with whom he has grown increasingly attached. Companion (Doctor Who)
In the long-running BBC television science fiction programme '' Doctor Who'' and related works, the term "companion" refers to a character who travels or shares adventures with the Doctor. In most ''Doctor Who'' stories, the primary companion acts as an audience surrogate. They provide the lens through which the viewer is introduced to the series. The companion character often furthers the story by asking questions (often to help the audience understand too) and getting into trouble, or by helping, rescuing, or challenging the Doctor. Harriet Jones
Harriet Jones is a fictional character played by Penelope Wilton in the long-running British science fiction television series '' Doctor Who''. Having worked previously with lead writer and executive producer Russell T Davies, Wilton was keen to involve herself with his 2005 revival of ''Doctor Who'' after he sought to cast her.
