Demetrios I Of Constantinople
Demetrios I also Dimitrios I or Demetrius I, born Demetrios Papadopoulos ( el, Δημήτριος Αʹ, Δημήτριος Παπαδόπουλος; September 8, 1914 – October 2, 1991) was the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople from July 16, 1973, to October 2, 1991. He was the 269th successor to St. Andrew (the apostle to whom Bishop of Constantinople, the See of Constantinople traces its roots), and was the spiritual leader of more than 5 million Eastern Orthodox Christians. Before his election as patriarch he served as the metropolitan bishop of Imvros. He was born and died in Constantinopole, in modern day Turkey. Dimitris Papadopoulos ( el, Δημήτρης Παπαδόπουλος; born August 15, 1966, in Greece), also commonly known by his nickname, ''"The Doctor"'', is a former Greek professional basketball player. Professional career Papadopoulos began his pro club career with the Greek club Iraklis Thessaloniki. Papadopoulos and Lefteris Kakiousis were the key players of the team in those days. With Iraklis, he was a Greek Cup finalist in 1994. Papadopoulos is the second leading scorer, the first rebounder, the first in three-point field goals made, and the third player in the number of games played, in Iraklis' club history. Dimitris Papadopoulos is a Greek professional basketball coach. During his club coaching career, Papadopoulos has coached in Greece, Cyprus, Tunisia, and Kosovo. Coaching career Papadopoulos started his basketball club coaching career with the Greek League club Panathinaikos Athens, where he worked as an assistant of Željko Obradović. Dimitrios Papadopoulos ( el, Δημήτριος Παπαδόπουλος; 1 March 1950 – 31 January 2020) was a Greek professional footballer who played as a forward. Club career At the age of 10, Papadopoulos joined the infrastructure departments of Ergotelis and after 4 years he joined the first team of the club that was then competing in the second division. Left-footed, with a tremendous sense of goal, he soon emerged as the team's top striker. In 1967 he was transferred to OFI together with 5 other teammates from Ergotelis. These transfers were made in an almost "coup d'état" way, obeying the will of the dictatorial regime to create a strong and competitive team on the island.
