Dick Damron
Dick Damron (born Joseph Glenn Damron, March 22, 1934 in Bentley, Alberta ) is a Canadian country music singer, songwriter. Damron experimented with many musical styles in the country genre including: ‘Outlaw’, Rockabilly, Honkey Tonk, and Gospel. Over a recording career spanning 60 years he has recorded more than 25 albums, received numerous country music awards, and been inducted into the International Country Music Hall Of Fame, in Beaumont, Texas. Early career Damron started his career performing in both rock and country bands, including the Musical Round-Up Gang (on CKRD radio, Red Deer) and the Nightriders. His recording career began in 1957 with his original '45 Havin' A Party/ Rockin' Baby. Then, in '60 he recorded two LP's for his own label, Holiday. Bentley, Alberta
Bentley is a town in Central Alberta, central, Alberta, Canada within Lacombe County. It is located on Alberta Highway 12, Highway 12, approximately northwest of Red Deer, Alberta, Red Deer. History The first settlers came from the U.S. in 1888-1890 and either walked or drove oxen from Lacombe, Alberta, Lacombe, which was the closest railroad station at that time. Post office opened in 1901. The first church was built in 1890 by the Methodists, and a schoolhouse was built in 1903. Bentley was Incorporation (municipal government), incorporated as a village on March 17, 1915. A disastrous fire destroyed all buildings on the south side of the community in 1916. The centre roadway was made wide and new buildings could not be constructed inside that area. In 1930, a centre boulevard was constructed for fire protection and street lights installed.
