Dharmasoka College
Dharmasoka College is a coed school in Sri Lanka. The college was established in 1913. It was supported by the Buddhist Theosophical Society led by Colonel Henry Steel Olcott, and accordingly is one of Sri Lanka's oldest schools. It provides primary and secondary education. Location and size Dharmasoka College is situated in Ambalangoda within the administrative district of Galle, Sri Lanka. It currently has over 5,500 students and approximately 250 members of the academic staff. History In 1913, the college was established with fifteen students by its founder, Mudliar Santiago Thomas de Silva, who spent his own wealth to establish and develop the college. On 10 April 1929, the Sugatha Sasanodaya Samithiya (a benevolent society) took over administration of the college. The government of Sri Lanka took control of the college in 1961. Waduge Warunasiri Mahinda Deshapriya ( si, මහින්ද දේශප්රිය) is a former Chairman of Election Commission of Sri Lanka. Ellamulla Kapuge Gunadasa ( Sinhala: ගුණදාස කපුගේ; 7 August 1945–3 April 2003) popularly known as Gunadasa Kapuge, was a Sri Lankan singer, musician, music director and playback singer. He was well known among Sri Lankans due to the philosophical background of his music renditions and lyrics selected for his work. Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP; ) is a Marxist–Leninist communist party and a former militant organization in Sri Lanka. The movement was involved in two armed uprisings against the government of Sri Lanka: once in 1971 (SLFP), and another in 1987–89 ( UNP). The motive for both uprisings was to establish a socialist state. The JVP was initially a small organisation that became a well-organised party that could influence mainstream politics.
