Glenorchy is a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Glenorchy is bound by the River Derwent to the east, Mount Wellington to the west, Hobart City to the south and to the north. Elwick Racecourse, known for naming rights reasons as Ladbrokes Park Elwick, is a thoroughbred horse-racing venue located on Goodwood Road, Glenorchy, Tasmania, Australia. It is located in close proximity to the Brooker Highway, Hobart Showground, Derwent Entertainment Centre, Glenorchy Art & Sculpture Park and the River Derwent. The Royal Hobart Showgrounds are the site of the Royal Hobart Show and many other smaller events including a market on the grounds every Sunday. The Royal Hobart Showground is located 10 km north of Hobart, between the junction to Brooker Highway/ Goodwood Road and the Main Road in Glenorchy. Royal Hobart Show The Royal Hobart Show is an annual event held at the Royal Showgrounds in October. 9th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery
The 9th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery is an artillery regiment of the Australian Army. It draws lineage from an artillery unit raised in 1903, which provided personnel to artillery units raised for service during World War I seeing action on the Western Front. It was mobilised for service during World War II and undertook defensive duties in Australia before being disbanded in 1944. The 2nd Force Support Battalion (2 FSB) was an Australian Army logistics battalion. Established in 1998, 2 FSB was a reserve unit headquartered in Hobart, with depot in various locations across Tasmania and Victoria. It was merged into the 8th Operational Support Unit in 2024. History Formed on 1 August 1998 as a reserve unit, following the amalgamation of a number of supply, medical, military police, maintenance and transport units.
