Dennis Robertson (economist)
Sir Dennis Holme Robertson (23 May 1890 – 21 April 1963) was an English economist who taught at Cambridge and London Universities. Biography Robertson, the son of a Church of England clergyman, was born in Lowestoft and educated as a scholar of Eton and at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he read Classics and Economics, graduating in 1912. Robertson worked closely with John Maynard Keynes in the 1920s and 1930s, during the years when Keynes was developing many of the ideas that later were incorporated in his '' General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money''. Keynes wrote that at that time, working with Robertson, it was good to work with someone who had a "completely first class mind". Dennis Robertson (born May 24, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with EC Red Bull Salzburg in the ICE Hockey League (ICEHL). Robertson was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth round (173rd overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Robertson played four seasons of NCAA Division I hockey with the Brown Bears men's ice hockey team where his outstanding play was recognized when he was named to the 2010–11 ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team in his freshman year, and was named to the 2013–14 All-Ivy League First Team in his senior year. On March 20, 2014, the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL) signed Robertson as a free agent to a two-year, entry-level contract, and he was immediately assigned to play with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL. Dennis Robertson (born 14 August 1956) is a Scottish politician, and formerly a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Aberdeenshire West constituency 2011–2016. He is a member of the Scottish National Party. He is the first blind MSP to be elected to the Scottish Parliament. Education and early career Robertson was educated at the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh (1968–1974), then studyied social work at Langside College (1981–1983). He worked as a social worker in Greenock from 1979. In 1989 he joined the Guide Dogs for the Blind association based in Forfar, before joining North East Sensory Services in 2005. Political career He was elected to the Scottish Parliament in 2011, after defeating the Liberal Democrat incumbent, Mike Rumbles, by a majority of 4,112 votes.
