Denna Laing
Denna Christine Laing (born May 12, 1991) is an American former professional ice hockey player. She last played for the Boston Pride of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) until a career-ending injury. At the collegiate level, she accumulated 77 points while competing for the Princeton Tigers women's ice hockey program from 2010 to 2014. She was also the captain her junior and senior year. Playing career CWHL Selected in the 8th round of the 2014 CWHL Draft, Laing played for the Boston Blades of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) during the 2014–15 season, accumulating two points in 18 games played. She competed in all postseason games and helped the Blades capture the 2015 Clarkson Cup. NWHL In 2015, Laing signed with the Boston Pride of the new NWHL professional league. Marblehead, Massachusetts
Marblehead is a coastal New England town in Essex County, Massachusetts, along the North Shore. Its population was 20,441 at the 2020 census. The town lies on a small peninsula that extends into the northern part of Massachusetts Bay. Goal (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team. The term goal may also refer to the structure in which goals are scored. Travis Roy
Travis Matthew Roy (April 17, 1975 – October 29, 2020) was an American college ice hockey player, author and philanthropist. In 1995, he was injured in his first shift as a college hockey player for Boston University and was paralyzed from the neck down. He later created the Travis Roy Foundation, which gives grants to enhance the life of people with spinal cord injuries and for research. His autobiography, ''Eleven Seconds'', was published in 1998. Childhood Travis Roy was born on April 17, 1975, in Yarmouth, Maine, the son of Lee and Brenda Roy. Roy grew up playing ice hockey and dreamed of playing for a Division I college hockey team. He attended Yarmouth High School as a freshman, then transferred to nearby North Yarmouth Academy (NYA) in order to pursue an athletic scholarship.
