Dena Janae King (born 1981) is an American lawyer and who has served as the United States attorney for the Western District of North Carolina since 2021. Education King received her Bachelor of Science, '' magna cum laude'', from the North Carolina State University in 2003 and her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2006. Career From 2006 to 2008, King served as an Assistant District Attorney at the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office in Charlotte, North Carolina. From 2009 to 2014, she served as an enforcement attorney in the Securities Division at the North Carolina Department of State. United States attorneys are officials of the U.S. Department of Justice who serve as the chief federal law enforcement officers in each of the 94 U.S. federal judicial districts. Each U.S. attorney serves as the United States' chief federal criminal prosecutor in their judicial district and represents the U.S. federal government in civil litigation in federal and state court within their geographic jurisdiction.
