Municipal or local governance refers to the third tier of governance in India, at the level of the municipality or urban local body. In 1664, Fort Kochi Municipality was established by Dutch, making it the first municipality in Indian subcontinent, which got dissolved when Dutch authority got weaker in the 18th century. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh (born 8 January 1957) is an Indian politician from Bharatiya Janata Party who is currently serving as the member of parliament from Kaiserganj. Political career In 1991 he was elected to the 10th Lok Sabha from Gonda constituency in Uttar Pradesh as Bharatiya Janata Party candidate.
