Deep End (band)
Deep End was a short-lived supergroup founded by guitarist Pete Townshend of The Who and featuring David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. The group also included drummer Simon Phillips, bassist Chucho Merchan, percussionist Jody Linscott, keyboardist John 'Rabbit' Bundrick, harmonica player Peter Hope Evans, vocalists Billy Nicholls, Cleveland Watkiss, Chyna, and a brass ensemble called The Kick Horns. Performance history In 1985, the group performed two concerts for the Double O charity at London's Brixton Academy (a third was cancelled due to poor ticket sales). The concerts were later released as the albums ''Deep End Live!'' and '' Live: Brixton Academy '85''. Supergroup (music)
A supergroup is a musical group whose members are successful as solo artists or as members of other successful groups. The term became popular in the late 1960s when members of already successful rock groups recorded albums together, after which they normally disband. Charity supergroups, in which prominent musicians perform or record together in support of a particular cause, have been common since the 1980s. The term is most common context of rock and pop music, but it has occasionally been applied to other musical genres. For example, opera superstars The Three Tenors ( José Carreras, Plácido Domingo, and Luciano Pavarotti) have been called a supergroup. The Kick Horns
Kick Horns are a UK horn section based in London. They have worked prolifically as session musicians with a wide variety of performers, and have also recorded as an ensemble. The Kick Horns were established in the 1980s by Simon C. Clarke and Tim Sanders on saxophones, and Roddy Lorimer on trumpet. Career highlights They played on the Spice Girls UK Christmas No.1 single Too Much in 1997 and their follow up single Stop in 1998. They also played on " Green Light" by Beyoncé, " Let Me Go" by Maverick Sabre and '' Once Upon a Time in the West'' by Hard-Fi. Emma Townshend
Emma Townshend (born 28 March 1969) is an English writer and journalist, and the elder daughter of The Who's Pete Townshend. She has previously worked as an academic, a musician and in adult education, but since 2006 has been the ''Independent on Sunday’s'' garden columnist. Townshend has written for most of the broadsheet newspapers and has been a guest on radio and TV including the ''BBC World Service'', ''Woman's Hour'', and ''Newsnight''. ''The Tube'' was a United Kingdom music television programme, which ran for five series, from 5 November 1982 to 24 April 1987.
