''Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. Mumia Abu-Jamal'' was a 1982 murder trial in which Mumia Abu-Jamal was tried for the first-degree murder of police officer Daniel Faulkner. A jury convicted Abu-Jamal on all counts and sentenced him to death. Appeal of the conviction was denied by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 1989, and in the following two years the Supreme Court of the United States denied both Abu-Jamal's petition for certiorari, writ of certiorari, and his petition for rehearing. Abu-Jamal pursued state post-conviction review, the outcome of which was a unanimous decision by six judges of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania that all issues raised by him, including the claim of ineffective assistance of counsel, were without merit. David Jonathan Faulkner (born 2 October 1957) is an Australian rock musician who also performed as Dave Flick. Faulkner is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist; he has performed with several bands, but is best known as a member of Hoodoo Gurus. He wrote the band's best known single, 1987 hit " What's My Scene?", which reached No. 3 on the National charts. As the mainstay member of Hoodoo Gurus, Faulkner gave the acceptance speech when they were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame on 18 July 2007 at the Plaza Ballroom, Melbourne. David Ewart Riley Faulkner CB (23 October 1934 – 2 November 2020) was a senior research fellow at the University of Oxford Centre for Criminological Research and worked for over 30 years at the Home Office. David Andrew Vincent Faulkner (born 10 September 1962) is an English former field hockey player and current head of women's performance at The FA. He was part of the Great Britain squad that won the gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He also won silver with the England squad at the 1986 Hockey World Cup. Faulkner was born in Portsmouth, England. He was the sport's performance director, working with England Hockey and Great Britain Hockey. He has played club hockey for Havant Hockey Club. Sir David Falconer of Newton (1640Edinburgh, Midlothian, 15 December 1685) was a Scottish judge. Biography He was the second son of Sir David Falconer of Glenfarquhar, one of the Commissaries of Edinburgh, and the former Margaret Hepburn, and younger brother of Sir Alexander Falconer of Glenfarquhar. His paternal grandfather was a brother of Sir Alexander Falconer, the 1st Lord Falconer of Halkerton.
